Sea Change is the eighth studio album by American musician Beck, released on September 24, 2002 by Geffen Records. Recorded over a two-month period in Los Angeles with producer Nigel Godrich, the album features themes of heartbreak and desolation, solitude, and loneliness. For the album, much of Beck's trademark recondite and ironic lyrics were replaced by simpler, more sincere lyrical content. He also eschewed the heavy sampling of his previous albums for live instrumentation.
Sea-change or seachange, an English idiomatic expression which denotes a substantial change in perspective, especially one which affects a group or society at large, on a particular issue. It is similar in usage and meaning to a paradigm shift, and may be viewed as a change to a society or community's zeitgeist, with regard to a specific issue.

The Sea Change" effectively illustrates many of Hemingway's writing conventions. Like "Hills Like White Elephants," "The Sea Change" primarily uses dialogue as a means of conveying the major elements and conflicts of the story. At first the dialogue is nonspecific; Phil and the unnamed girl refer to their disagreement only as "i. This too is a technique used commonly by Hemingway (including in "Hills Like White Elephants"). Often, the ambiguous or seemingly innocuous "it" ultimately refers to a major thematic or moral issue

It takes a lot for me to cry but "Lost Cause" can get me crying like a little girl if I'm sad enough
