Spyro Gyra - Point Of View FLAC album

Point of View is the thirteenth album by the American jazz group Spyro Gyra, released in June 1989 by GRP Records. At Billboard magazine, the album peaked at No. 120 on the Top 200 Albums chart. Slow Burn (Dave Samuels) – 4:07. Swing Street (Jay Beckenstein) – 5:13. Fairweather (Tom Schuman) – 4:46. The Unknown Soldier (Beckenstein) – 5:16. Hannibal's Boogie (Beckenstein) – 5:59. No Limits (Beckenstein) – 4:41. Carolina (Richie Morales) – 4:34. Riverwalk (Samuels) – 4:29.

The problem is that Spyro Gyra's slower and more impressionistic tunes have always been their most interesting, and the lack of ballads is a fairly big strike against Point of View. Also, the too-concise arrangements - only the woefully misnamed "Swamp Thing" breaks the six-minute barrier, and over half the songs don't even hit five - keeps the group members, who are all fine soloists when they get the opportunity, from breaking out long enough to really build something interesting.

PointOfView " is the thirteenth album by Spyro Gyra from 1989. The album cover shows a lizard climbing from a puddle on the pavement, up to the sidewalk next to a fire hydrant. The puddle mirrors a somewhat bizarre view of what seems like a jungle right behind the hydrant. 1989 ' s Point of View is a much more up - tempo collection than Spyro Gyra had delivered on their last several albums ; only Dave Samuels ' lovely vibes - and percussion - enhanced " Riverwalk " counts as a ballad, and even it has a moderately sprightly tempo.

Spyro Gyra official web site. The first eponymous album Spyro Gyra, self-released in late 1977, reflected these personnel as well as some guests like vibraphone player Dave Samuels, the album attracted the attention of locally based Amherst Records, who re-released the first album with new artwork. The debut album was one of Billboard s Top 40 Jazz Albums of 1978, bronx-born percussionist and drummer Gerardo Velez, who started his career with Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock, became a regular in the band around this time.

Point of View is definetly one of Spyro Gyra's best cd's, from what I've heard of them. They definetly put a lot of hard work, time, and dedication into this c. t does a good job of displaying their talent. All of the tracks come together to make a terrific piece of music. The songs are all, basically, built up. in an organizational manner. This feature is a definent pr. n fact, I have some of their songs from this cd memorized. Spyro Gyra is probably the best neo-jazz-rock band of the '80s. They began in 1978, and at that time they were highly influenced by Return To Forever, with a touch of exotic influence. In the '80s, their sound became more synthetic, and their songs more pleasant to listen to.
