Huddie William Ledbetter, (January, 1888 - December 6, 1949) was an American folk and blues musician, notable for his clear and forceful singing, his virtuosity on the twelve string guitar, and the rich songbook of folk standards he introduced. He is best known as Leadbelly or Lead Belly. Although he most commonly played the twelve string, he could also play the piano, mandolin, harmonica, violin, concertina, and accordion.

Huddie William Ledbetter (/ˈhjuːdi/; January 20, 1888 – December 6, 1949) better known as stage name Lead Belly was an American folk and blues singer, musician and songwriter notable for his strong vocals, virtuosity on the twelve-string guitar, and the folk standards he introduced.
His Guitar, His Voice, His Piano was Leadbelly's last recording session for a commercial label, held in the early Fall of 1944, yielding a dazzling 12 songs, embracing virtuosic guitar blues ("Grasshoppers In My Pillow"), pounding piano-driven scatting ("The Eagle Rocks"), with Leadbelly himself at the ivories, a talent for standards done with the understated accompaniment of a zither (courtesy of.
