Released May 2, 1989. Disintegration Tracklist. Disintegration is British alternative rock band The Cure’s eighth studio album. It is considered the band’s magnum opus and is very highly-regarded by critics, fans and fictional characters alike. The album remains their biggest-selling release to date. Unlike most Cure albums, Disintegration is a pre-conceived group of Smith’s autobiographical songs that uniformly express one particular mood – gloom, yet stopping just short of communicating total despair like Pornography and Faith
Disintegration (The Cure album). Disintegration is the eighth studio album by English rock band the Cure, released on 2 May 1989 by Fiction Records. The record marks a return to the introspective and gloomy gothic rock style the band had established in the early 1980s. As he neared the age of 30, vocalist and guitarist Robert Smith had felt an increased pressure to follow up on the group's pop successes with a more enduring work

Three singles were released during 1982 and 1983 that were a significant divergence in style for The Cure; essentially, pop hits. Words by Robert Smith. Oh I miss the kiss of treachery The shameless kiss of vanity The soft and the black and the velvety Up tight against the side of me And mouth and eyes and heart all bleed And run in thickening streams of greed As bit by bit it starts the need To just let go My party piece. Oh I miss the kiss of treachery The aching kiss before I feed The stench of a love for a younger meat And the sound that it makes When it cuts in deep The holding up on bended knees The addiction of duplicities As bit by bit it starts the need To just let go My party piece.
The Cure's 1989 album, released during what was arguably the band's peak period, receives a lavish reissue with some terrific bonus material. Or at least whole wardrobes, decoration schemes, and notebook scribbles. One of my first big memories of listening to Disintegration involves wandering around the Colorado State Fair, from the agriculture show to the gang fights by the midway. This is a kind of reach I doubt Robert Smith ever imagined. And yet there they were. You could say-again, from an American perspective-that it started with two things. There was Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, a 1987 double album that scatters in a lot of different directions.
Turning The Cure into one of the biggest bands on the planet, ‘Disintegration’ remains a mind-blowing and stunningly complete album. Published on. May 2, 2019. Yet this landmark album emerged from a turbulent 12-month period during which frontman Robert Smith battled with depression and fired The Cure’s co-founder, Lol Tolhurst, from the band. Listen to Disintegration right now. Cracks first began to show following the release of 1987’s eclectic, double-disc set Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me.
