Digable Planets, the alternative hip-hop trio comprised of Mary Ann Ladybug Mecca Vieira, Craig Doodlebug Irving, and Ishmael Butterfly Butler have finally reunited!! The group’s debut album Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space) was released in 1993 under Pendulum Records.

The trio is composed of rappers Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler (from Seattle), Mariana "Ladybug Mecca" Vieira (from Silver Spring, Maryland), and Craig "Doodlebug" Irving (from Philadelphia). The group is notable for their contributions to the subgenres of classic hip hop and alternative hip hop.
Digable Planets are a jazz hip-hop group from Brooklyn, New York, United States which formed in 1992. The group consists of rappers Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler, Ann "Ladybug" Vieira and Craig "Doodlebug" Irving. They are best known for their 1993 single "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)", which was a success on hip-hop, pop and alternative rock radio in the United States. The group broke up in 1995 and reunited in 2005.
Digable Planets changed rap in the mid-90s with a fresh sound and style. But pressures to commercialize their music, and internal struggles, stopped the group in its tracks, after only two albums. Just on the basis of his collaborator list alone, we're excited to see what Cee Knowledge has up his sleeve on his new album.
