Kid Creole & The Coconuts - Annie, I’m Not Your Daddy. The Vinyl of the Day is ‘Off The Coast Of Me’, the debut album of Kid Creole And The Coconuts, 1980. The band was created and fronted by August Darnell, who originally formed the band ‘Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band’ with his brother Stony Browder Jr. Their self-titled debut release was a Top 40-charting album which was certified gold and was nominated for a Grammy. Darnell adopted the name Kid Creole in 1980, began wearing zoot suits and dancing onstage in a style reminiscent of films of the ‘30s and '40s, and fronted the multi-racial, multi-cultural ‘KC&TC’.
